Freed after 38 years: Peter Sullivan

Victim of a 38-year miscarriage of justice, Peter Sullivan believes he was "stitched up".

The victim of a 38-year miscarriage of justice says he was "bullied" into falsely admitting murder, in his first and only interview.

Peter Sullivan believes he was "stitched up" back in 1986 over the killing of Diane Sindall, who was ambushed and beaten to death during a frenzied sexual attack in Birkenhead in Wirral.

Mr Sullivan, who has learning difficulties, has been adjusting to a society changed beyond recognition since new DNA evidence saw his conviction quashed by the Court of Appeal in May – but says he will not be able to move on without an apology from Merseyside Police.
