Miniature railway to remain in historic tunnel

A miniature railway inside an historic Leicestershire tunnel will reopen next year after drawing more visitors than anticipated.

Glenfield Railway Tunnel was the longest tunnel in the world at one mile (1.6km) long when it opened in 1832.

It re-opened to passengers for the first time in almost 100 years after the miniature railway was installed earlier this year. Visitors to the attraction have doubled in that time.

Leicestershire Industrial History Society (LIHS), runs the railway and guided tours of the tunnel.
