From the Archive: Richard Burton's last interview with the BBC

Burton spoke to Bill Turnbull in the 1980s, just a few weeks before the actor's death.

We've been going through our archive for the World at One’s 60th anniversary.

Presenter Jonny Dymond introduces an interview from the 1980s with actor Richard Burton about a modernised version of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, published by the historian AL Rowse.

BBC Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull, then a freelancer, interviewed Burton from New York for what would be his last interview for the BBC before his death a few weeks later.
