Are communal boilers creating an energy price trap?

Residents connected to large 'communal mega-boilers' run by some London Councils say their bills have risen so much they are now struggling to pay their heating and hot water.

The charge is often incorporated into residents service charges. One woman who lives in a three bedroom maisonette in Peckham in south London says she has received an estimated bill of £6,500 for next year.

BBC London has spoken to dozens of residents - mainly in the London borough of Southwark where there is around 17,000 homes connected to one of its 101 communal boilers who say they're really struggling. Thomas Magill has the story.
