What brought Chris Silverwood back to Essex?

Essex General Manager Dan Feist explains the new Director of Cricket appointment.

Silverwood led Essex to the County Championship Division Two title in 2016 and the County Championship Division One title in 2017.

The latter accolade was the first of its kind for the club in 25 years but Silverwood departed following that season to take up a coaching role with England.

He held the England Head Coach role between 2019 and 2022.

The 49 year-old will return to Chelmsford as Director of Cricket, taking over from his former assistant Anthony McGrath who left the role last month.
