Agatha Christie inspired Essex TV writer
Crime writers Margery Allingham and Dorothy L Sayers both had Essex roots and were two of the leading authors during the 'Golden Age' of detective fiction. More recently there's Martina Cole from Aveley and also novelist and screenwriter Robert Thorogood from Great Horkesley near Colchester, who devised the BBC crime drama 'Death In Paradise'.
Robert is also the author of the Marlow Murder Club books, and has been speaking about where his love of storytelling began...
