Griff Rhys Jones: 'We can save Jumbo'
Essex actor and comedian Griff Rhys Jones has lent his support to the restoration of the Balkerne Water Tower in Colchester. Often referred to as 'Jumbo', the 10ft (35m) Victorian tower was built in 1883 and used to bring clean water to the town until 1984.
North Essex Heritage was given £250,000 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund towards work costing around £6m, and is now looking to apply for a full National Lottery grant too.
