Bagpuss, Essex and my dad by Emily
It's 50 years since the first episode of Bagpuss, which was co-created by Peter Firmin who grew up in Harwich. Together with Oliver Postgate, they produced a number of classic children's TV programmes, including Clangers, Ivor the Engine and Noggin the Nog.
Peter's daughter Emily starred in the opening moments of each Bagpuss story and has been reminiscing about life with the pink and white cloth cat, which first broadcast on February 12th 1974.
