Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert

Episode 3 of 3

Cold War suspicions surround Martina Navratilova as she dominates Wimbledon but struggles to be as adored as her rival Chris Evert.

It’s 1990, and Martina Navratilova – Czech-born but representing the USA - has the chance to become the most decorated singles player in Wimbledon history.

In comparison, her famous rival Chris Evert is America’s sweetheart. Evert is heralded as the perfect celebrity athlete, pigeonholed based on her looks, but she is Navratilova’s most formidable opponent, with a reputation for incredible mental toughness.

This episode tells the story of their intense rivalry, but at the heart of the story is Navratilova’s search for acceptance – which culminates in an ambition to become the greatest player to ever grace Centre Court.
