Wyson Lane & The New Almshouse Collective's BBC Music Introducing session
A live session from a Herefordshire, Shropshire and Powys act whose frontman performs under the name of his road!
Murray Esplin lives on Wyson Lane in Wyson, which is so much on the Herefordshire/Shropshire border that if he steps to the other side of the street he changes county.
And because American clients used to think his name was actually 'Wyson Lane', he stuck with it!
He's been making music for 50 years and whilst his recent band has only been active since the first lockdown, his own musical background includes looking after the music at Warwick Castle - which led to him discovering, learning to play and then incorporating a load of really old instruments in to his songs.
As you'll hear, he loves writing and is a master at lyric writing - and we were so inspired by what he does - we invited him, and his group, to perform for our virtual Airwaves Festival which led to this in-person opportunity in Hay.
