Ukuleles

It's quickly becoming one of the most attended music workshops in the county; the Worcester Ukulele Club has grown to such an extent, they now take over the local library every Monday.
Beginning with just a handful of players, the group - which started in the backroom of a pub - now has around 100 members who meet at the Hive every week.
All well as being a community event, they regularly play gigs - from their repertoire of more than 130 songs - raising money for charity.

The Bewdley Festival

It's been taking place for more than three decades and, this Friday, the Bewdley Festival returns with ten days of music, comedy and arts.
The Fine Young Cannibals' frontman Roland Gift will perform at the festival's opening night at the Mercure Hotel.
Clare Teal and Eddi Reader are among the musicians performing this year.
A Sunday afternoon Opera is also taking place.

Matt Cardle in Hay-on-Wye

This month, X Factor winner Matt Cardle concludes his shows on the West End in Strictly Ballroom allowing him to champion his new album Time To Be Alive.
And the recordings were made in Hay-on-Wye.
Matt, who talks exclusively to BBC Hereford & Worcester, reveals how his struggles with addiction landed him in rehab where he penned many of these new songs.
The album was put together by Jim Eliot, who's also written and produced songs for Kylie Minogue, Will Young, Olly Murs, Ellie Goulding, Christina Perri, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Leona Lewis, James Morrison, Rae Morris, Sigma and Foxes – and does all of this tucked away in the shadows of the Black Mountains.

Charity gig

A Bewdley saxophonist, who received life-saving heart surgery, held a rock concert to raise funds for the hospital that treated him.
In 2017, at the age of 66, John Knox found himself in a situation that could happen to anyone; necessitating major open heart surgery to replace his aortic valve.
John son-in-law, Phil Mountford - a film composer and musician - stepped in to help organise the gig which took place on Friday.

BBC Music Introducing in Ross-on-Wye

Our next recording session will take place on Sunday, 21 October at Jacqueline's Nightclub in Broad Street, Ross-on-Wye.
We're bringing along handpicked musicians from Herefordshire and Worcestershire to record their live sessions for broadcast.
They've all uploaded their tracks to the BBC Music Introducing Uploader - but didn't know they were being considered for this incredible opportunity!
This free event, which is open to everybody, kicks off at 2pm and you're more than welcome to turn up anytime until 6pm.
