Highlights: TrueFest

It was billed as the ‘ultimate house party’ with more than 65 acts, 5 stages, a sauna, swimming pool and real toilets!
Set in the beautiful location of Baskerville Hall, near Hay-on-Wye, the organisers hosted three days of DJs, bands, theatre, comedy, burlesque, cinema and AV shows.
This year the fancy dress theme was 'National Treasures versus Guilty Pleasures' with Beardyman headlining the event.

In session

Lawrence Taylor earned his stripes the hard way.
Performing at open mic nights in Birmingham, while living in Redditch, he gradually pieced his material together, working out what did and didn't work in the glare of the spotlight.
He's already landed a coveted spot on the BBC Radio 1 playlist after uploading his music to us - and this week, as we look ahead to BBC Music Introducing at Reading & Leeds later this month, we hear some previously unbroadcast session tracks from Lawrence - as recorded in Reading two years ago.

Preview: BBC Music Introducing at the Reading + Leeds

Historically, our Reading and Leeds line-up has been one of the strongest of all our stages throughout the festival season with acts such as Slaves, Catfish & the Bottlemen and Jack Garratt making their BBC Introducing debuts here.
The artists on this year’s Reading and Leeds line-up sent their music to us via the BBC Introducing Uploader and have been supported by their local BBC Introducing show.
A panel of respected producers and presenters from across BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music have helped build our very exciting selection of acts performing at this year's event.

Musicians' Masterclass: Frank Carter

It was the biggest new music business gathering to ever to be held in the UK, with more than 100 sessions and 250 speakers ensuring every aspect of the music business was covered.
Held across three days, Amplify offered exclusive access to the UK music industry’s biggest names through intimate talks, music masterclasses and recording workshops.
This week, we talk money, mental health and songwriting with Frank Carter, who began his career as a rock singer in Gallows in 2005.
Two years later, he released his first studio album after signing a £1m deal with Warner Bros Records.
Frank eventually left the band, after the deal ended, going on to form Pure Love (who went on hiatus) so created Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes.
In 2015, they released their debut album and have taken the festival circuit by storm.

Session tracks: Empyre

Empyre perform intense, atmospheric rock, with a dark and introspective edge to their writing.
The quartet, who are based in both Bromsgrove and Northampton, take in influences such as Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam and Royal Blood and lay on a storming live show.
"Thunderous rock with one of the meatiest sounds in the UK right now. No stage is too big for these guys" - Andrew Marston.

BBC Music Introducing at HopFest, Bewdley

This was their eighth annual event, featuring tonnes of local bands.
This year they extended the festival to three days - so on the Sunday, we were there hosting a stage dedicated to Herefordshire and Worcestershire artists chosen from the BBC Music Introducing Uploader.
The event, run by a group of volunteers, is paid for by ticket sales alone.

Monthly roadshows

If you run a venue or you’re a music promoter, then we want to hear from you!
Since the beginning of 2011, we've taken our BBC Introducing show out on-the-road to various areas across our patch.
Every month, we rock up at a different venue with a pile of microphones, cables and recording equipment along with several vans full of enthusiastic musicians!
As well as the bands being able to invite an audience, we also bring along a number of music industry professionals to comment on the live acts.
We tend to host our sessions on evenings/weekends is because it's normally a quiet time for venues - so effectively you get a free gig curated with the best bands (from the thousands who have submitted their music to us), full tech provided, plus tonnes of publicity from the bands and the radio station - so effectively you just need to open your doors!
