Reading FC: McShane hoping for better summer preparation
Paul McShane thinks a disjointed summer last year contributed to the poor season.
After play-off final defeat at the end of last year, McShane thinks the squad were already on the back foot going into the 2017-18 season.
“The last summer was quite difficult,” McShane told BBC Radio Berkshire’s Tim Dellor. “People got a bit drained I think.
“We started the season OK, performances were decent, but we weren’t getting the results.
“I think that was a big blow to people’s mentalities.”
And McShane is hoping players with the right ‘mentality’ come into the club during the transfer window.
“It’s about bringing in the right characters for the team, bringing in winners, people with hunger.
“I think that’s more than half the battle.”
