Scott Hutchison’s love letter to Glasgow School of Art
This clip of Scott Hutchison performing a specially commissioned song is taken from a 2009 BBC Scotland documentary about the Glasgow School of Art made by Scottish filmmaker, Louise Lockwood.
Herself an Art School graduate, Louise asked fellow ex-student Hutchison if he would create something for the documentary inspired by the ‘The Mack’.
He agreed to write and perform a new song ‘Learned Your Name’ about the iconic building designed by fellow Scot, Charles Rennie Mackintosh using the sounds of the building as percussion on the track.
Louise said:
“Knowing the music of his band Frightened Rabbit I was excited to hear what he would produce. The resulting song ‘Learned Your Name’ is imaginative, emphatic and beautiful, just like the lovely man I was so lucky to have met.”
