Vaughan: 'No chance' Stokes will play in Australia this winter
Former England captain Michael Vaughan says there is “no chance that Ben Stokes will play cricket in Australia this winter”, barring a swift resolution to the legal case surrounding him.
The all-rounder remains unavailable for selection until the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decides whether or not to charge him for his role in an incident outside a Bristol nightclub in September.
“It’s very confusing, but I don’t think anything has changed really. It’s the same situation we are in now, he’s not here playing for England because he is not deemed selectable,” said Vaughan.
Stokes is playing domestic cricket in New Zealand for Canterbury while a legal decision is made.
The first one-day international in Australia takes place on 14 January in Melbourne.
