‘My name and my skin colour has become part of my brand'
Leading lawyer Funke Abimbola has told 5 live how her African heritage was a barrier to getting a job at the start of her career but is now something that makes her stand out.
She told Nicky Campbell: “It’s obvious that I have African heritage and that was a real problem. I got absolutely nowhere with my CV’s and covering letters.”
Funke has been practicing law for almost 20 years.
“Now it’s a case of my name and my skin colour making me really stand out, it’s become part of my brand.”
