Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf (excerpts) – a piece for Soviet children

Peter and the Wolf was written by Sergei Prokofiev in 1936, soon after the composer returned from exile to the Soviet Union.

The original Peter in the story was a Young Pioneer (a kind of Soviet Boy Scout) and some consider the whole piece to be a political metaphor.
