When you hear Grieg's tranquil Morning Mood from Peer Gynt, do you imagine snow-capped Norwegian fjords? Scandinavian music expert Professor Daniel Grimley explains why the inspiration behind this very popular work actually came from a much hotter landscape, five thousand kilometres to the south of Grieg's birthplace.
