Alinta suddenly has an opportunity to escape from Waruu's clutches. Waruu is preoccupied with his problems at the Ministry of Human Safety - having failed to hand them Koen, and with his processing initiative in ruins, he is in danger of watching his efforts crumble to dust. Jarli decides it's time for action and goes to Bennelong House to collect the remaining Hairies and lead them to safety outside the city, taking Latani with him.
