Japanese Cabinet Approves Emperor Akihito's Abdication Bill
This is the first shift in two centuries
The Japanese government has approved plans to allow Emperor Akihito to step down. The cabinet has backed draft legislation, which will now be sent for parliamentary approval.
President Trump says he thought his decision last week to sack the FBI chief, James Comey, which sparked a storm of controversy, would receive bipartisan support.
And in the Central African Republic, the UN has raised the alarm over the escalating violence in the southeast of the country.
