US Condemns Mass Arrests In Russia

Washington says the move is an affront to democratic values

Hundreds of Russian anti-corruption protesters have been arrested following widespread demonstrations in Russia on Sunday. The protesters were calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev over corruption allegations. Russian opposition leader, Alexey Navalny, is among those arrested.

Scientists in the US say they've managed to turn a spinach leaf into working heart tissue. The researchers hope this technique could eventually be used to grow layers of healthy heart muscle to treat patients who have suffered a heart attack.
