Pull the other one: The story of the lucky bell-ringer
Campanologist Ian Bowman talks to Vanessa about the accident that chimed out across the nation this weekend when his foot became entangled in a bell rope at Worcester Cathedral. The rope, attached to the cathedral’s tenor bell, caught the heel of Ian’s shoe catapulting him 6ft in the air before his foot slipped out causing him to fall on his head. Fortunately Ian was rescued from the bell tower by the local fire brigade and was taken to hospital. He is now resting at home.
