US President-elect Donald Trump has named General James Mattis as his defence secretary. Mr Trump has previously described Gen Mattis, 66, as "a true general's general". Gen Mattis, who is known as "Mad Dog", was an outspoken critic of the Obama administration's Middle East policy, particularly on Iran.
The United Nations has highlighted north-eastern Nigeria as suffering from the worst food crisis in the world. And in a few hours, it will announce its 2017 Humanitarian Response Plan. Several former professional football players in the UK have revealed they were sexually abused by their coach, when they were children. However, the sexual abuse of children by their coaches is a global problem and one of the sports particularly affected has been swimming in the United States. We hear from Robert Allard, who's a lawyer in California representing victims of sexual abuse in swimming.
