Protests in Calais

Calais Blockade; Hong Kong Votes; FARC Child Soldier

Truck drivers, farmers, local business owners and residents are taking part this morning in a blockage of some of the main roads in the northern French port of Calais to highlight the disruption caused by the migrant camp known as "the Jungle". Newsday chats to one of the organisers of the protest, Jean-Pierre Devigne, from France's largest trucking union FNTR Pas-de-Calais.

In Hong Kong, a record high turnout in the territory's legislative election delays the publication of results in the first significant poll since mass demonstrations in 2014.

It is a week now since the government of Colombia and the rebel group FARC signed a peace deal in Havana, marking an end to over 50 years of conflict that have left hundreds of thousands dead and millions displaced. Diana Loreta Murica is a former child recruit with FARC, she was 10 years old when she joined the group. She tells her story to Newsday's Michael Rossi.
