Actor Gene Wilder, remembered by many for his lead role in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, has died at the age of 83. The comic actor also starred in classic films such as The Producers, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.
About 6,500 migrants have been rescued off Libya, the Italian coastguard says, in one of the biggest operations of its kind to date. Some 40 co-ordinated rescue missions took place about 12 miles off the Libyan coast.
New evidence suggests that the famous fossilised human ancestor dubbed Lucy by scientists died falling from a great height - probably out of a tree.
