
Thousands of Migrants Rescued Off Libya
Mediterranean rescues; Gene Wilder; South Africa hair protests
About 6,500 migrants have been rescued off Libya, the Italian coastguard says, in one of the biggest operations of its kind to date. Some 40 co-ordinated rescue missions took place about 12 miles off the Libyan coast.
Actor Gene Wilder, remembered by many for his lead role in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, has died at the age of 83. The comic actor also starred in classic films such as The Producers, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.
A school in the South African capital, Pretoria, is facing an international backlash for apparently telling black school girls to straighten their hair. The school rules allow corn rows, braids and dreadlocks up to 10 millimetres thick, but girls with the natural look say they're being accused of having 'unruly' hair.
