Emma O'Reilly: Whistleblowers need more support
Russian whistleblowers who exposed the widespread doping within the country have been "left to hang" according to Emma O'Reilly who helped expose Lance Armstrong.
Vitaly Stepanov and his wife Yulia Stepanova have said they would not feel safe if they returned to Russia.
Speaking to 5 live Breakfast, O'Reilly said: "until the whistleblower gets protected, why would the whistleblower come out?".
She believes a system should be in place to help people who speak out.
"There needs to be a support system or some form of support. I can't understand after all these years that WADA or some of the big federations aren't saying 'we have a support system for whistleblowers. Let's encourage them and lets set up something confidential that's independent to the International Federations'."
