Eddie Hearn: Chris Eubank Snr wanted too much control
Chris Eubank Sr’s demands cost his son a fight against Gennady Golovkin, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.
Eubank Jr was expected to fight the Kazakh, even calling him out on social media. However, Britain’s IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook will face Golovkin in London on 10 September.
“We have a model with our fighters,” said Hearn. “The problem was that Chris Eubank Sr wanted operational control of the show. He wanted to select his own ticket prices, his own undercard… talking about security and hotels. I don’t need that hassle, that’s what we do, that’s what we’ve done for 30 years.”
