Eubank Sr says Blackwell fight should have been stopped sooner
Chris Eubank Sr tells Stephen Sackur he warned Nick Blackwell that he was in "danger" and that he shouldn’t have been fighting his son (Chris Eubank Jr) ahead of the bout that left Blackwell in a coma and nearly killed him.
Eubank says Nick Blackwell simply said "well thanks for caring". Eubank says the referee should have stopped the fight three rounds earlier. The fight was eventually halted in the 10th round by the ringside doctor because Blackwell's left eye was swollen shut.
The British Board of Boxing Control has already said it was satisfied with how the bout, which took place at Wembley Arena earlier this year, was handled.
Chris Eubank Sr calls for referees to have a "second pair of eyes" in the ring to monitor boxers. He says what happened "wasn't fair to Nick".
