Sam Ostler is a singer/songwriter from Redditch who recently performed at the O2 Academy in Birmingham.

He's influenced by artists such as The Beatles, Elton John, U2, Keane, The Killers, Madness, ELO, Kenny Rogers & Coldplay.

We loved his music so much that we passed it on to Mark Forrest who played it on all 39 BBC local radio stations across Britain.

"A pin-drop performance from one of our most promising artists, who's turning a lot of heads nationally among key music figures." - Andrew Marston

Big Gig!

Big Gig!
Ten years ago 18 thousand fans flocked to New Road to watch Elton John play live.

A decade on and Worcestershire County Cricket Club has announced it's putting on another big concert.

It's being headlined by UB40, Lulu, The Lighthouse Family, M People, Alexander O'Neal and The Real Thing.

BBC Introducing in Kidderminster

BBC Introducing in Kidderminster

This month's sessions were recorded at the Boar's Head in Kidderminster - a pub that has been under the threat of closure since the start of the year, due to financial pressures.

Sid and Sandra, who run the venue, took it on after bringing the The Beat to the Town Hall.

Ever since, they've been hosting a variety of punk, ska, rock and indie nights, booking bands from as far afield as Germany, Australia and America.

They also stage an annual two day festival outside their Worcester Street venue.

Upton Folk Festival

Upton Folk Festival
The Upton Folk Festival took place last weekend and featured the usual range of great performers - regulars, old favourites and new guests.

There were sessions in the pubs, dancing in the streets "with good company and fellowship throughout the town".

Reviews

Reviews
Our reviews, this week, come from Clare Foster of Clear Cut Promotions.

Clear Cut are the group behind many of the blues and classic rock gigs that have been taking place in Hereford since the start of the year, including Mick Ralphs at the Left Bank.

Every two weeks, Clare and the team help put together the Hereford Blues Club at the Booth Hall, which has attracted artists from as far afield as Canada.

BBC Introducing at the Hay Festival

BBC Introducing at the Hay Festival
Our next recording session takes place on Sunday 29 May where we'll be rolling up to The Hay Festival to record several acts who we've been playing on BBC Hereford & Worcester recently.

We'll bring the bands - all we need now is the fans!

None of these artists knew they were being considered for a live session - they were chosen based on the tracks they uploaded to us.

So if you'd like to Be Part Of It, then simply turn up on the day - it's free to see our bit - but you must be prepared to make lots of noise for local music!
