The investiture of HRH Prince Charles, Caernarfon Castle: 1969
More than 4000 people were at Caernarfon Castle on 1 July 1969 for the investiture of HRH Prince Charles as Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester, while in the north Wales town another 90000 thronged the streets.
A television audience of 500million people (including 19million in Britain) watched around the world, making it the largest TV audience ever for an event in Wales.
