Launderettes under threat?

In the 1970s there were 12,000 launderettes in Britain. Now there are only 3,000 left.

Reporter Zoe Conway met two women working in a launderette in London. They talked about the future of the traditional laundrette, and why Gloria folds the pants and Pam folds the socks.

The Green Party's candidate for London mayor, Sian Berry, says launderettes need protecting. She is worried new government planning laws will make it too easy for developers to buy them and change their use.

Ministers say that is a good thing because it might lead to more housing.
