The Biggest Issues for Children in Syria

Bombs, Shelling, and air strikes are biggest issues for children according to charity Save the Children; Slovenia closes border; What lies ahead for Iraq.

A new report called Childhood Under Siege by the aid agency Save the Children reveals that barrel bombs, air strikes and shelling are the biggest issues for children living in besieged areas inside Syria.

Slovenia is the latest European Union member to have closed its border to migrants. The Interior Ministry said that entry would only be considered for migrants wishing to claim asylum or for those with clear humanitarian needs.

No boots on the ground - the promise British Governments have been making in the seven years since the last fighting troops left Iraq. No combat boots is what politicians and military commanders mean; but trainers are another matter. They are among the foreign advisers helping the Iraqi army prepare for an attack on Mosul, the country's third largest city and headquarters in Iraq of the group that calls itself Islamic State. Our defence correspondent Jonathan Beale reports from Iraq on what lies ahead.
