
WHO Advises Pregnant Women Against Travel to Latin America
WHO travel warning due to Zika virus; Ethiopia faces worst drought in decades; The Dating app that matches Republicans and Democrats.
The World Health Organization has advised pregnant women not to travel to areas in Latin America affected by Zika, because of growing evidence of a link between the virus and birth defects. Zika, which is transmitted by mosquitoes, has been linked to a big rise in microcephaly - a condition causing under-developed brains in babies.
Failed rains and the threat from El Nino have plunged Ethiopia into its worst drought in decades. More than 10 million people need emergency aid, crops have failed and the lack of water is putting livestock at risk.
A dating app that connects people with opposing views has launched a new feature to bring together Democrats and Republicans. The Verona app was launched to bring together Israelis and Palestinians - but the creator now wants to connect people in the USA, which he says is "extremely socially and politically polarised".
