Sir George Martin tributes

Sir George Martin tributes

Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have led tributes to Sir George Martin, the record producer known as the Fifth Beatle, who has died aged 90.

Sir Paul paid tribute to a "true gentleman" whom he described as "like a second father".

Ringo thanked him for all his love and kindness.

We talk to the people from Herefordshire & Worcestershire who got to meet and work alongside Sir George.

Kidderminster music row

Kidderminster music row

A musical theme for Kidderminster's upgraded town centre is causing a bit of a stir with a campaign group claiming it's an eyesore.

Residents Against Town Seating (RATS), say seats that have been made in the shape of a pile of vinyl records are a safety hazard.

They also say the musical theme doesn't have a strong enough connection to the town, with a carpet theme being a better option.

We hear from those running the petition and the local council.

This month's sessions were recorded at The Swan in Stourport.

The venue has recently become a music hub for the town after being bought by Matt Worley who runs the Strings & Things store next door.

The performance area is decorated with amps around the stage and bar, music memorabilia across all of the beams and vinyl records fixed to the walls.

Matt was also instrumental in bringing a trade fair to Stourport last year at the town's Civic Centre and he's now looking to open a dedicated function room at The Swan, complete with a restaurant and rock 'n' themed hotel suites.

People's History Of Pop: The Beatles in Tenbury Wells

Here on BBC Hereford & Worcester, we've brought you the "People's History Of Pop", celebrating the big gigs that took place in Herefordshire & Worcestershire.

With the passing of Sir George Martin this week, it's only fitting we look at the Beatles.

So we told you that they came to Worcester and played at the Gaumont. You could be forgiven in thinking that was one of their smallest-ever gigs. But you'd be wrong…

BBC Introducing in Ross-on-Wye
BBC Introducing in Hereford & Worcester supports unsigned, undiscovered and under-the-radar musicians from Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Since 2011, we've been taking the show out on-the-road showcasing the very best musicians from our two counties.

Our next recording session takes place on Easter Sunday at The Phoenix Theatre in Ross-on-Wye and features five acts we've been playing on BBC Hereford & Worcester.

It's free to get in - and this is your chance to see how we capture live music on tape, while being able to enjoy some of the hottest new acts we've got in our area right now.

None of these acts knew they were being considered for a live session - they were chosen based on the tracks they uploaded to us.

Doors open at 2pm - but you're more than welcome to turn up any time until 7pm.
