Syria: Life Under Threat of Siege
Syria aid; Greece refugees; Easter Island mystery
The UN is due to deliver aid to besieged towns in Syria, where it's estimated that tens of thousands of people are facing severe food shortages. Among the areas due to receive aid is the town of Madaya, where more than twenty people have died of starvation.
Greece today opens four migrant registration centres - also known as "hotspots" – on the islands of Lesbos, Chios, Leros and Samos. The move comes after Athens faced pressure from the European Union for delaying the opening of camps.
Easter Island, which belongs to Chile, is most famous it’s giant stone heads. More than 800 of these statues were created by the Rapa Nui people, but by the 1860’s they were almost completely wiped out.
