Philip Pullman - 'Everyone is being paid except the author'
Philip Pullman, author of the "His Dark Materials" trilogy, has resigned as a patron of the Oxford Literary Festival over their failure to pay guest speakers.
Pullman said he could no longer be a patron of a Festival which did not pay authors for their time.
Pullman told BBC Radio 4's The World At One "Everybody else is being paid... except the only reason the festival exists in the first place: the author."
