Excess packaging: Amazon is 'shipping air'

Frustrated Amazon customers have posted photographs on Twitter claiming to show excessive packaging used by the online retailer.

Guardian journalist Lucy Siegle, who writes about ethical and green living issues, said the problem is "getting out of hand" and is "outrageous" from an ecological standpoint.

"They're shipping air and, at the moment, nobody is being penalised," she said.
