Uganda Prepares to Welcome Pope Francis

In advance of Pope Francis' visit to Uganda today Newsday's Alan Kasujja has been exploring the importance of the Catholic Church in Uganda.

Antalya on the Mediterranean coast in Turkey is a popular destination for Russian tourists. With the Russian prime minister promising sanctions against Turkey following the downing of a Russian jet fighter on Tuesday, the BBC's Olga Ivshina is in Antalya to hear the concerns of the locals and how the resort might be affected by the sanctions.

The state oil company in Nigeria says that thieves have stolen nearly $250 million worth of petrol from a single pipeline this year, having a big impact on the economy and ordinary Nigerians. Newsday speaks to Dolapo Oni of Ecobank in Lagos.
