The History Behind the Doping Scandal; Afghan Woman Teacher; Nigerian Cabinet Formed

Accusations of drugs cheating against Russian athletes echoes East Germany's systematic doping programme which ran from the 1970s right through to the 1980s. The man responsible for uncovering the use of sports enhancing drugs by East German athletes was Dr. Werner Franke. Newsday speaks to him.

Dr Sakena Yacoobi is one of the people working tirelessly to rebuild her country's educational structures. Popularly known as Afghanistan's 'mother of education', she was awarded recently an international accolade: the 2015 WISE Prize for education in Doha. And she's famous for once inviting some angry members of the Taliban to share a cup of tea when they raided her school. Newsday spoke to her.

The new Nigerian cabinet will be sworn in later today, more than seven months after the presidential election. The BBC's Abdullahi Kaura Abubakar reports.
