Myanmar Electoral Results; Christmas Island Riot; Zimbabwe Drought

With vote counting in Myanmar's landmark election well underway, the BBC's Burmese editor Soe Win Than speaks to Newsday.

Rioting is taking place at an Australian detention centre for asylum seekers on Christmas Island, after the death of one of the detainees. Australian authorities describe it as a 'disturbance', but one of the detainees who spoke to BBC news in the last few hours painted a different picture. We speak to online political reporter for Australian broadcaster ABC, Anna Henderson.

Southern Africa is facing a food crisis affecting millions of people due to drought. In Zimbabwe the World Food Programme estimates that 1.5 million Zimbabweans will go hungry over the next six months. Newsday speaks to David Orr of the WFP.
