Christmas Island Riots

Rioting is taking place at an Australian detention centre for asylym seekers on Christmas Island, after the death of one of the detainees. Described as a 'disturbance' by the authorities, one of the detainees who spoke to BBC News in the last few hours has described it as much more serious. Newsday talks to Ian Rintoul of the Australian Refugee Action Coalition.

With preliminary results of the election in Myanmar due today, the BBC's Jonathan Head reports from Yangon.
