Lancaster admits future will be looked at after England World Cup exit
England coach Stuart Lancaster says his future will be looked at after the side’s pool-stage exit from the Rugby World Cup.
England cannot qualify for the quarter-finals after being beaten 33-13 by Australia, their second defeat in three matches, and Lancaster gave an honest assessment when asked if he would be considering his position.
“Well yeah. I think it wouldn’t just be me,” he said.
“The reality is it’s not for now. We’ve got a week to go and we play Uruguay. It’s important we put in a performance up in Manchester and finish on a high.
“I understand where the accountability and responsibility lies and it’s with me,” he added.
Lancaster was appointed England coach in 2012, and signed a contract extension until 2020 last year.
