
Turkey Reimposes a Curfew in Cizre
The Kurdish town of Cizre in curfew, Will robots eat our jobs, 12 years without a shower.
The authorities in Turkey reimposed a curfew late Sunday in the predominantly Kurdish south-eastern town of Cizre only a day after they had lifted it. The town, which lies on the border with Syria, was closed off as Turkish troops carried out a counter-terrorism operation against the Kurdish militant group, the PKK. A clear picture of what happened during the curfew in Cizre is still emerging. Eyewitnesses say 20 civilians died there during the operation, although the Turkish government has said only one civilian died and that the rest were militants.
A man says he has not had a shower for 12 years because he wants to preserve the bacteria on his skin. David Whitlock, a chemical engineer from Boston, sprays a mist containing live bacteria on his skin twice a day instead of having a shower. He is speaks to Newsday.
