Republican Presidential Candidates Clash During TV Debate
Frank words at presidential debate, MH370 search expanded, Jon Stewart leaves Daily Show.
The leading Republican Party presidential candidates have taken part in their first televised debate in the US - giving Americans a chance to compare the White House hopefuls. Much attention was focused on the property magnate, Donald Trump, who refused to rule out standing as an independent. The candidates also clashed on a number of issues including immigration, abortion and the rise of Islamic State.
France is to conduct air, land and sea searches in and around the island of Reunion in the hope of finding more debris which could be linked to MH370. The authorities on the neighbouring islands of Mauritius and Madagascar have already been asked to assist in searching their coastlines for debris. We reflect on the achievements of American comedian Jon Stewart, who has bowed out after sixteen years at the helm of "The Daily Show". The programme became hugely influential for its satirical take on the news, and spawned a number of spin-offs.
