What does it take to be select committee chairman?

As MPs vote for new chairs of select committees, Margaret Hodge is asked what it takes to do the job.

She spoke about her time chairing the Public Accounts Committee, and how the government implemented 90% of its recommendations.

She spoke to Jo Coburn about the work of the committee, which she described as a “good cross-party team” and recalled its work on tax affairs.

And the Labour MP said: “We had coalition government, and I think that broke down tribal loyalties.”
