X Factor style contest to allow Commons documentary

Michael Cockerell recalls the six-year campaign, ending with an X Factor style contest with other broadcasters, to get behind-the-scenes access to show life in the House of Commons.

The results of a year's filming are coming to BBC2 on Tuesday nights with four 60-minute-long documentaries, called Inside the Commons.

Charlotte Leslie MP, who features in it, told Jo Coburn how she had previously struggled to use her own hand-held camera to give to her local station, BBC Radio Bristol, to show what life for an MP was like.
