Slash’s first guitar only had one string, and was given to him by his grandmother.

He’s now the ultimate Gibson Les Paul man (“you have Strat guys and you have Les Paul guys” he says, with a wry grin) – and here he reveals that his favourite ever model is the ’59 flametop copy that he’s used on every record since Guns N’ Roses’ Appetite for Destruction.
