AO founder claims business started as £1 pub bet
The boss of £1.5 billion appliance retailer AO.com has claimed his business began as a one pound pub bet.
John Roberts launched the firm in August 2000, six months after a friend betted he would never turn his business plan into a reality.
The Bolton-based company was floated on the stock exchange last week, making its founder £86 million.
Mr Roberts told BBC Radio 5 live's Wake Up to Money: "All the best businesses start in pubs."
