Refracting Telescope
For our regular feature ‘Show Us Your Instrument’, Inside Science visits a refracting telescope at The Royal Observatory in Greenwich.
Public Astronomer Dr Marek Kukula explains how this giant Victorian instrument has been used to study the physics of double stars. However, a fire during World War II destroyed its papier-mâché dome, which has now been replaced with fibre glass.
